September 12, 2023 - Raise Your Hand to Give

September 12, 2023

Fall brings football, the return of school, and seasonal activities. At your United Way of Goodhue, Wabasha & Pierce Counties it’s also time to kick-off our campaign season, our theme this year is Raise Your Hand. This is an impactful time for us as your donations help us deliver programs and resources that are vital to the well-being of so many individuals. We invite all of you to think about what matters to you and to your community; and we are grateful for your continued support.

Please Raise Your Hand to Help:

  • Your United Way continue to provide funding support to our nonprofit community. Your contributions help nonprofits increase their capacity efforts, which help create a stronger healthier community.
  • Live United and help us expand our work and widen our circle of impact within our service area.

Please Raise Your Hand to Sponsor:

  • People who need food support, housing assistance, educational resources, mental health support and access to health and dental care.
  • A vibrant community, one that nurtures and empowers each individual.

Please Raise Your Hand and be a Change Maker:

  • Your dollars become vehicles of influence! Through your workplace campaigns, our residential campaigns and through on-line giving platforms your dollars go to work and stay local.

Please Raise Your Hand as a Business Owner:

  • Join our 365 giving community. When you commit to $1 or more per day, your impact is multiplied.

Please Raise Your Hand to help us mobilize our efforts!

In gratitude,

Nicolle Mechelke

Thank you! Thank you!

With the support of Gemini Manufacturing, we held a second school drive in Cannon Falls. We packed an additional 150 backpacks. Backpacks were given out at elementary and middle/high school events. Thanks to the Gemini's efforts many more kids will get the supplies they need!

With the school year back in session this is a great time to spend time reading with kids. The Child Mind Institute says reading opens kids up to new ideas, new vocabulary, and they learn how to develop emotional awareness.

At the United Way of Goodhue, Wabasha & Pierce Counties we have eight Blue Bookshelves located throughout our service area. We encourage kids to take books home and build their own libraries. Find our locations here.

Volunteer Opportunities

DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE MEMBERS: Are you a party planner? Do you love planning social events and getting friends together? This is the committee for you! Meet once or twice a month with like-minded people to help plan and manage United Way Fund Raising and Community Events. Great way to learn about United Way and it's work without the commitment to being a board member. Sign up for the entire year or just for the events you want to be a part of. Call Nicolle at 651-388-6309 or email at nmechelke@unitedwaygwp.org

Light Office Work/ Data Entry - Are you looking to help one or two hours per week? Do you like computers work? We need someone who can come into the office one morning per week to do some data entry and light filing. Will train on any software necessary, flexible scheduling. If this sounds like something you might enjoy, call Stacy at 651-388-66309 or email scoyle@unitedwaygwp.org
