July 31, 2023 - Community Philanthropy in Action

July 31, 2023

Are you aware that we have a strong philanthropic focus in our communities and a desire to create positive change? This is something I have been able to witness as I visit more communities in our GWP footprint.

Many of our communities are putting their action into focus by partnering with us in our annual Stuff the Bus School Supply Drive campaign. Others have been generous in supporting our Summer Raffle fundraising efforts through purchases they made, direct ticket sales or through prize donations they have given.

We have also had a chance to celebrate a first-as two individual donors stepped up to support a Blue Bookshelf. We thank Neal and Kim Newman for being stewards of this educational initiative; and thank the YMCA for their partnership.

As we continue to build upon our foundation and head into our campaign season, I will remain curious, open to engagement, and learn how we can best support each other and those that need a helping hand.

It is inspiring to see the growth.

This week we joined Neal and Kim Newman to place a Blue Bookshelf at the YMCA.

This admirable sponsorship will make a great impact for the children in our communities.

Thank you to Neal and Kim Newman

and a big thank you Red Wing YMCA for hosting this shelf.

Volunteer Opportunities

DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE MEMBERS: Are you a party planner? Do you love planning social events and getting friends together? This is the committee for you! Meet once or twice a month with like-minded people to help plan and manage United Way Fund Raising and Community Events. Great way to learn about United Way and it's work without the commitment to being a board member. Sign up for the entire year or just for the events you want to be a part of. Call Alexa at 651-388-6309 or email at abjornstad@unitedwaygwp.org

Light Office Work/ Data Entry - Are you looking to help one or two hours per week? Do you like computers work? We need someone who can come into the office one morning per week to do some data entry and light filing. Will train on any software necessary, flexible scheduling. If this sounds like something you might enjoy, call Stacy at 651-388-66309 or email scoyle@unitedwaygwp.org
